When the Clutch Release Bearing is depressed, it pushes on the clutch fork, which in turn pushes the clutch bearing against the pressure plate. This causes the pressure plate to release the clutch disk, which disengages the engine from the transmission. When the pedal is released, the clutch bearing moves away from the pressure plate, allowing the pressure plate to engage the clutch disk again.
